No Nvidia product announcements at Nvision

Jen-Hsun Huang revealed his goals for Nvision and much to our surprise, one of them isn’t to focus on his company; instead, he sees it as a show for the visual computing industry as a whole.

"Nvision isn’t just about the PC ecosystem, it’s for the visual computing industry – this includes film, photography, gaming, industrial design and every aspect of the visual computing ecosystem," explained Huang.

"It’s not about us, it’s about our ecosystem. We made a point not to announce products here – this is not a platform for us to announce products, it’s a platform for our ecosystem. Of course, we have to do the heavy lifting this time around, but hopefully next year the whole industry does the heavy lifting.

"This is the first industry conference for the visual computing ecosystem. We invited Intel and AMD this year and we want them to be here. I hope they’ll be here next year," he continued.

What do you think about the lack of Nvidia-related announcements and do you think it’s good for the visual computing industry to have its own conference? Share your thoughts in the forums.
