Valve, in a typical teasing of Half-Life 2 fans, has hinted that it may be readying to show off Half-Life 2: Episode 3 (Manchester United: 0 - Ed) by the end of the year.
Doug Lombardi, in a chat with Kikizo, confirmed that although the development process for Episode 3 will be longer than the gap between Episode 1 and Episode 2, the first looks may be ready by the end of the year.
"The next time you play as Gordon will be longer than the distance between Half-Life 2 to Episode 1, and Episode 1 to Episode 2," said Lombardi in a voice that made a thousand eager HL2 fans cry out in anguish.
The good news however quickly followed, with Lombardi mentioning that they may be set to announce or show 'something' at the end of the year.
The Half-Life Episodes were originally meant to be released with short, regular gaps between them. Unfortunately, Valve has spent so long expanding and refining the games that the releases have each been massively delayed and staggered - though the quality at least is top-notch.
Are you eager to see what happens to Gordon Freeman and Alyx in Episode 3, or do you already have an idea about what may lay in store? Let us hear your speculation in the forums.
