With Fallout 3 practically done now (aside from maybe some after-sale support) we imagine that the team over at Bethesda is taking a long and well-deserved rest - but we don't expect that reprieve to last for long.
In fact, according to Paul Oughton, publishing executive for Bethesda, the team could be re-assembled and put to work on their next project pretty sharpish. Apparently, Oughton is hopeful of a new Elder Scrolls game getting released before 2010.
Oughton briefly discussed platforms and such with GI.biz too and said that while a port of Fallout 3 or Elder Scrolls is technically possible, the company still has no plans for a Wii release. PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 seem to be the main, targeted platforms.
Bethesda has only just released a sequel to Interplay's classic isometric RPG, Fallout. The game is mighty impressive too, proving a decent fusion of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls approach, though the interface is a problem on the PC version. The question is though, is Oughton setting an impossibly tight deadline considering how long and how much effort it takes to make an open-world sandbox, or has Bethesda secretly been working on the game for a while already?
