Rockstar: "a small number of fans" having issues

Rockstar has been trying to downplay the number of issues that gamers are complaining about in the recent PC release of Grand Theft Auto IV , saying that only a small number of fans are having issues with the game.

Grand Theft Auto IV has drawn flak from gamers for repeated crashes, draconian authentication systems and performance issues that make the game unplayable on most systems at higher settings.

"We are aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV on their PCs and we would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible," a Rockstar spokesperson told GTAGaming.

"We would ask anyone that is encountering difficulties to contact their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations. These telephone numbers can be found in the game's manual.

"There is also a regularly updated technical support page available on the Rockstar Games website where there are many useful FAQs, and information on how to resolve some common problems being encountered," continued the statement.

We investigated the performance of the game, as well as the authentication systems and how the graphics compare to the console version in our Grand Theft Auto IV PC review, faulting the game for these issues. Metacritic however still has the game listed with an average score of 92 percent, though the user vote is currently at 49 percent.
